Open Lapping Sessions

If you don't have your own kart, our open lapping sessions are a great way to get started or to practice your technique. Visit us on any Open Karting day (see schedule for details), and you can jump in one of our Rock Karts and lap Andersen RacePark. Driver experts will help you with the basic elements of driving, such as the line, braking, and other tricks of the trade, to improve your driving and bring those lap times down! Open lapping details are as follows:

  • $5 insurance/entry fee
  • $25 for 15 minutes (1 session)
  • $65 for 3 sessions

Driver Clinics

*program uses our rental karts - no need to bring your own equipment (see age restrictions)

For those wishing to learn even more, clinics are offered in our Rock Karts every Thursday at 4:30pm during the summer (winter schedule TBD). Instructors will work closely with each driver who attends, providing them with professional feedback that will help them improve their driving technique, consistency, and overall performance. Each week's class will focus on a specific area or skill, with a view to developing a driver towards competing in the Sunday Showdowns series or improving their performance in a competition kart. Some of the areas to be covered include the following:

  • Lapping sessions
  • Braking drills
  • Overtaking drills
  • Practice starts
  • Qualifying simulations
  • Mock race events

Each driver clinic will take roughly two hours to complete. Cost is $85 per driver (including tax).

Rock Kart Challenge

*program uses our rental karts - no need to bring your own equipment (see age restrictions)

Once you've got all the basics down, our Rock Kart Challenges can help you and your friends refine your competition skills. Offered on Saturdays and Sundays, each Rock Kart Challenge consists of three on-track sessions in our Rock Karts, starting with a practice session, followed by a qualifying session, and ending with a final challenge to determine the winner.

Before and after each session, professional instructors will be on hand offering drivers assistance and driving tips. If you have a group of 10 people or less, the challenge will take roughly an hour to complete. If you have 12 or more drivers, then your group will be split into 2 heats, extending the duration of the event.

Cost is $80 per driver (including tax).

Sunday Showdowns

*program uses our rental karts - no need to bring your own equipment (see age restrictions)

The next step in your racing education is to learn how to compete in a multi-race championship. Our Sunday Showdowns offer the perfect experience, utilizing our well-maintained fleet of Rock Karts. On alternate Sundays for a select period (winter, spring, summer and fall editions), Andersen RacePark will challenge and educate drivers with multiple track configurations and fast paced competition. Driver instruction is a key ingredient, with the aim to teach and develop drivers to a higher standard.

Winter Edition 2010 Schedule:

Round 1 Sunday, January 9th
Round 2 Sunday, January 16th
Round 3 Sunday, February 6th
Round 4 Sunday, February 13th
Round 5 Sunday, February 20th (Shootout 1)
Round 6 Sunday, March 6th (Shootout 2)

Requirements:

  1. Drivers must be 16 years old (12 to 15 year olds may compete, but they must have completed the Andersen RacePark minor course).
  2. Drivers must sign a damage waiver and receive race orientation training.
  3. Drivers must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
  4. Drivers must obey the rules and regulations published online and set by ARP officials.

How does it work?

  • Sunday Showdowns will begin at high noon on select Sundays. All drivers can participate in a select championship edition, or choose select Showdowns to fit their schedules and budgets.
  • A championship consists of 6 rounds (usually every other Sunday - check schedule for details). Drivers will be split into 3 categories, all of which will be based on weight. The Light Class will be for drivers who weigh up to 130lbs (without helmet). The Intermediate Class will be for drivers who weigh between 131lbs and 180lbs (without helmet), and the Heavy Class will be for drivers who weigh 181lbs and over. Each class will receive a 10 minute practice session, an all new 15 minute knockout qualifying session where the slowest drivers will be eliminated every 5 minutes, followed by a 12 lap challenge. The top two drivers from each class will then play-off in a final race for a bit of fun in our "Superleague" format.
  • Drivers can enroll in a single event for $85 including tax.
  • Drivers receive points according to where they finish, and their total will accumulate over the first 4 rounds of the championship (usual ARP points scheme). At this stage, the leader of each class will have their score reset to 200, with 2nd at 190, 3rd at 180, etc. (decreasing in increments of 10). For the final 2 rounds, drivers will go head to head with their rivals in a chase style conclusion to the championship.
  • Keep track of the scores online, through Andersen RacePark press releases and updates on Facebook and Twitter.

Enduro Challenges

*program uses our rental karts - no need to bring your own equipment (see age restrictions)

Endurance Racing is an alternative form of the sport that requires different approaches to both strategy and teamwork. Your racing education would not be complete without learning how to compete in this area, so Andersen RacePark hosts Enduro Challenges on a regular basis throughout the year. The challenges are open to the public, and teams consisting of up to 5 drivers each will take part. Drivers and teams can sign up on a first come, first served basis.

Each team will be assigned one of our Rock Karts and will receive a 20 minute practice session, where drivers can familiarize themselves with the karts and the track layout, as well as practicing their all-important driver changes.

Once the teams are ready, the next step is a 2 hour challenge with a Le Mans style start, and the kart that completes the most laps wins. Fast and consistent driving is required, but that's only part of it. Strategy and decision-making are absolutely key ingredients when it comes down to defeating the competition. More often than not, the battle is won with good old-fashioned teamwork!

Fall 2010 Schedule:

Round 1 Sunday, September 26th 2 Hour Challenge $75+tax per driver
Round 2 Sunday, October 24th 3 Hour Challenge $95+tax per driver
Round 3 Sunday, November 28th 6 Hour Thanksgiving Special $150+tax per driver
Round 4 Sunday, January 2nd 2 Hour Christmas Challenge $75+tax per driver

For the fall series, teams will earn points based on their results in each event, with the team earning the most points deemed the series champion. Please review the rules for more information, and sign up early to guarantee your spot!
